A Walking Path in West Malling

During this walk I got hit with some hail. It put a smile on my face. I was hailed in England!!
It just might be that one of these scenes ends up in a painting.

Our T-Home (Temporary Home)

This is it. They call it the stables. Looks like it doesn't it. To the left is the kitchen. To the right is the bedroom. There is a small room in between that serves as dinning room and living room. Tiny, tiny.
A view around the corner - that building is actually 6 apartments. Can you see the pasture beyond it? And the horizon line is the driveway that wraps around it all.
Meet my new friends. There are 6 of them. They all have horns - this one with the longest. I have been promised their fleece when they are sheered this year. They also have 4 alpacas. Beautiful farm.
These barns are living spaces for people - not animals. See the sheep.
I hear they like bread and fruit. Soon I will feed them.

Starting the walk to the village

This is the walk I do down the long driveway. I will turn right after the curve and the end of the driveway.

A nice overall view of most of The Hermitage farm. The building we are staying in is to the left of the big barny center building. It is tucked behind it.
Here is the entrance sign.

After taking a right out the driveway this is what I see.

A very, very short block down is this side street. On the other side of this wall is the abbey.

Coming into West Malling Village

Around the corner... Note all the moss. I guess that's what happens with so much age and moisture. These stone walls are all over the place.
Follow the wall and the village opens up to me really soon. This was about a 6 minute walk from our T-home.
Along the way are a few side roads. Frog lane is off of Swan Rd.

Part of St. Mary's Abbey. The abbey area is quite large, old and picturesque.
Just past the Abbey the village starts. Yo Shmade - the Lobster Pot is right there on the right.

It Continues - in England

I am in day #2 of the BIG ADVENTURE - our move to England. I have no pictures yet cause the box with the camera won't get here until later this week. I am all caught up with sleep now.
Yesterday after I got here I immediately made sure my computer and Skype was working and even though it was 4 am in Ohio I could tell that all was going to be okay. After I settled in a bit I napped for 3 hours (no sleep on the plane). When I got up my first Skype was to Kathy Schmader cause I could see that she was on line.
So I headed out to wake up and see where the heck I am. I had Google Earthed the place long time ago and had seen a few photos that Bob had sent but they did not come close to how sweet the place and the town really are. I am at: The Stables, Hermitage Farm, Lucks Hill, West Malling, Kent, ME19 6HW, England. It is nice not to be in a tourist town. I could feel the everyday-id-ness of the other people walking around.
There is a little rain today - I will be seeing a lot of this I am sure - so I will go out with umbrella in hand and find some more. I passed a couple of realtor's offices yesterday so I think today I will stop in and see what they can do for us. i am hoping for a furnished place so we don't have the hastle of furniture etc to buy. We will see.
